As much as I love traditional weddings, I love non-traditional weddings even more.  When Christine & Dan retained Sierra & Sky for both wedding flowers and secular officiant services, I was happy to create what they wanted and loved.  They asked me to officiate in costume, so I created a bat hat to wear!

Their restaurant/banquet venue in Nevada City, California, fell through the week of their wedding due to the venue going out of business; they scrambled to find a substitute venue for their intimate wedding with about ten guests. They were able to find this gem with its stained glass windows and special character.

I created a dark, harvest bouquet for the bride, with dark red flowers and foliage, feathers, and touches of steampunk.

As they had a steampunk look and theme going on, I remembered that I had a lot of actual clockworks.  I took out my screwdriver to take things apart for the groom.  He was not expecting this and was very happy with it.

Christine & Dan had set up the incredible stained glass alcove with electric candles and white mini pumpkins.  They asked me to create a large arrangement for the individual table.  I picked out a copper bowl that they could enjoy at their home for many years.

Isn’t this an incredible setting for an elopement or intimate wedding?  They had about ten guests who sat on couches and chairs to watch the secular wedding ceremony, that included handfasting.

That’s Garfield, guarding the steampunk wedding booklet I created for Christine and Dan.  Every wedding couple gets their entire wedding in booklet form as a keepsake from me.

I love the way they look!  Her steampunk dress was from Etsy.

The rental home, which they stayed in for the night, has so many charming details.

Trick or treaters stopped by; and some of their young guests also went trick or treating.  Their guests were dressed up, and they went to a nice dinner in Nevada City after the ceremony, within walking distance.  Nevada City really celebrates holidays in style; it was a busy afternoon with people dressed up in the small historic downtown.

This was definitely a wedding to remember!  When things don’t work out perfectly, think about what you can do to make it work.  I actually preferred their new venue to the one that they lost.  Thank you Christine & Dan for choosing Sierra & Sky at elope2cali.com for your wedding officiant and wedding flowers!  Your elopement / intimate wedding was fun for all of us.
